Yes, well it was time for a new look - my hair hasn't grown much during the chemo and the strands had become thin - so I said the Steve (the hairdresser) - do your worst - and this was the result.
So I am now opening up a competition for the most insulting comment amount my haircut - the current leader is Chris Browne with "oh well that reminds me I need to clean the toilet!!" Come on you can do better that that.
Well I have just been hooked up to chemo session number 10 - only two more to go!
We had an appointment with the oncologist last Friday and set a number of dates for the "end game":
Mon 7 Dec - CT Scan
Wed 9 Dec - Final chemo session and pump connect
Fri 11 Dec - Chemo disconnect - and final appointment with oncologist with results of CT Scan
Tue 22 Dec - Blood test ahead of minor operation
Wed 23 Dec - Minor op (local anaesthetic) to remove the line in my chest.
Then that is it until another scan in May 2010.
Then Christmas and New Year with the girls and friends.
The doctor also said that following chemo my skin would be more vulnerable to sunlight and if I spent longer than 1 hour outside - even on cloudy days in the UK - I would need to wear factor 50 sunblock - for the rest of my life - oh well - I will have to buy some shares in Boots!! He also gave me yet another set of tabs as I was suffering some heartburn during the last cycle. He confirmed that my stomach lining had been eroded slightly and the tabs would sort it out. He also confirmed that a spell of minor nosebleeds was normal and nothing to worry about. All these were minor side effects so not too bad.
Jane has been busy doing teaching supply work, roleplay work and she has also picked up a few days work to carry admin for the testing of exams in various schools in the area.I am still playing once or twice a week, keeping fit at the health club and reading, watching DVDs and doing lots of crosswords. I also have been on a number of country walks and playing board games with Chris.
Anna has now settled down in Sutton Coldfield and Jon is doing well in his new job. We are spending the night there next week - Jane and Anna plan some retail therapy - and I have a list of DIY jobs in the house including painting, shelving, handles and mending the loo seat - all exciting stuff.
Charlotte is well and still thriving in Gloucestershire - she will be coming out to join us in Florida during the first 2 weeks of March - which will be great.
Well that's all folks - comments on the haircut please!
Nice hair dad - did it come with a free hoodie?
