Two-thirds through my chemo

Hi readers.

Apologies for not updating my blog sooner - but not a lot has been happening. I have now had my 8th chemo treatment out of 12 - my last will be on 9 December.

All is still going well with minimal side effects. We saw the doctor 2 weeks ago and he said that he was going to reduce the strength of the chemo a little bit to minimise the risk of tingling and nerve damage to my finger tips. He also said that he would arrange a CT scan in early December to double check that there wasn't anything unexpected going on elsewhere in my body. If that was all clear then we are free to fly out to Florida for part of the winter. Hooray!! I would then need a routine scan next May.

We have booked our flights (the prices keep going up) so we fly out on 4 January and return on 31 March - just before the Easter school holidays. This will mean that Jane will have a full summer term of teaching work and I will also need to get a contract.

Jane has been very busy teaching 2 or more days a week. I have been spending the money on golf - playing once or twice a week - my handicap is now down to 20!! (This is my assessment not a club handicap as I don't belong to any club.

Anna has moved to Sutton Coldfield (Birmingham) with Jon. They are renting a house and Jon has now started his new job with OFWAT - the water industry regulator. He is enjoying the work and making new friends. Anna is still working 2 days a week in Nottingham and also trying to finish off her PhD - so she is living in 2 houses at the moment.

Charlotte continues to thrive at her community. She has been home this week and has been busy visiting friends and relatives. at the time of writing I am about to take her out to see "Up" the movie - everyone says that it is great.

Well that's all for now.
