Scan gives me the all clear!

Today, I had my 12th and last chemo connection - it has been a long 6 months. We also saw the chemo specialist for the results of the CT scan that I had last Monday - and all is clear. So the doctor said - fly away to Florida.

We asked how long some of the side-effects would last. He said the that my taste (which is about 50%) would take a couple of months to return to normal. In the last two weeks I have had tingling and slight numbness in my toes - he said that was quite common - but it may get worse before it gets better - again maybe taking a couple of months. My need for sleep has also gradually increased - I have been having a short nap on most afternoons and still sleeping soundly at night.

I also have be careful in the sun - so I will have to wear sunblock cream whenever I am outside - he also recommended that I wear a sun block hat and special sun block shirts for bright sunshine in Florida.

We are due to see the bowel cancer specialist on Sunday morning for a "handover" meeting from the chemo specialist. We expect him to say - "fly away and plan a date for an appointment next May for a follow up investigation" - (yes camera up the backside!) - which will turn into an annual event. Evidently, this detailed investigation will identify any small lumps that are not picked up by a CT scan.
